Breanna as DJ Buttons
DJ BioBreanna loves to swing dance, preferrably to good, swingin' music. That's why she started DJing in 2006. She's worked her way to larger and larger audiences, playing at regular venues in her local scene as well as national events across the country, from Atlanta, Georgia to Rochester, NY.
Whether you prefer the Count, or the Duke, if you like the music of the swing era, you will like what Breanna plays. Old favorites such as Louis Armstrong and Jimmie Lunceford fit right into her sets, next to more contemporary artists like Tuba Skinny or the Boilermaker Jazz Band. Big bands, small groups, New Orleans jazz, even some of the stuff from the late 40's and 50's with that bop tint to it--if it will get dancer feet moving, there's a chance you will hear her play it. All Breanna wants is to help you enjoy dancing as much as possible, and at least as much as she does! Notable DJ ExperienceLindy Hop and Balboa

References"I first heard Breanna DJ at Southern Belle Swing Bash 2008. She had the unfortunate opening set at late night where hordes of ravenous dancers stopped to line up at the outside food table before even entering the dance. I remember standing in line for about 10 minutes and hearing a good song from inside; then another, and another. Finally, I joined the growing number of people putting down their empty plates to go inside and dance because the music was too good to miss.
This told me two things about Breanna as a DJ: Obviously, she played good music; but more importantly, she wasn't panicked by inheriting an empty room and had the confidence and skill to lure people into it even when they were focused on doing something else. That's what makes a good swing DJ as opposed to someone who just owns a good collection of music." -Bill Speidel, DJ and organizer in Virginia Beach, VA "Breanna Perry is taking the DJ world by storm and rising to the top faster than I can follow. Breanna is a quick study at whatever she does because she is brilliant and artistic. Her attention to detail and ability to work many different textures of music into her sets while continuing to keep the dance floor hopping is rare indeed. I enjoy her tastes and she continues to stretch me at the same time. I think most others who have heard her spin would agree." -Reuel Reis, organizer and teacher in New Orleans, LA "Breanna's enthusiasm and love of music are infectious. It's impossible to be around her when she is dancing or DJing and not have a great time." -Heather Adams, dancer and DJ in Dallas, TX "Breanna has a natural understanding of what Lindy Hoppers want. Her ability to read the mood of a crowd stems from her experience and not just out of pure luck. What you end up with is a unique mix of music from jump blues, big band, jazz, R&B, and even soul if the mood and crowd calls for it." -Huy Huynh, organizer and teacher in Huntsville, AL |
