I've been throwing around the idea, especially recently, of throwing myself into my extracurricular activities more intensely, and really pursuing what I can as far as turning them into a profession.
Slowly, I've been becoming completely involved in the world of jazz dance (lindy hop: the gateway drug) in as many ways as I can. I've been dancing for almost 4 years, DJing for about 2.5, and have been teaching regularly for more than a year. I've performed at a variety of dance-related events, and I have a history of performance, especially as a theatre geek in high school. Last March was my first official venture into the world of organizing dance events, too, even though I've been involved in various capacities as a volunteer for other events--working registration, coordinating food, etc. I love dancing so much that none of this really seems like work, of course, but when people want to pay me for it in some way, I'm not in any position to turn that down :) And until...well, now, interested parties have not had any way to contact me except through email, which hardly provides a complete picture of what I can do.
Hence, this site. Of course, I'm not so conceited as to think that I am in high demand and I have some audience somewhere just dying to find out what my every move is. Do I look that dumb? What I have realized, though, is that it's hard to become even an amateur professional in any field if you don't present yourself as a professional. Plus, I'm a total nerd and have always played around with the idea of having a personal website.
History sort of shows that I'm an inconsistent blogger, but with this new site (and new blog), I'm hoping to at least work towards some consistency. I figure, I may be busy, but I should be able to manage at least one post a week. And with that idea, the tentative plan is this:

Week 1: Dance music, performance, technique, or teaching post (or pretty much anything dance related that doesn't fall specifically into Week 2 or Week 4)
Week 2: Review of dance event I went to/organized/was involved in
Week 3: Miscellaneous Week (because I have more interests than is good for me)
Week 4: Dance clip review!

Overall, this is the sort of thing I end up posting in my blog anyway, but I hope that this will both encourage my writing as well as make my blog consistent/reliable enough that readers know what to expect from me.

I also love constructive criticism, so feel free to let me know what you're thinking! Y'know, unless it's hate mail.
